The recent thread about cables has me wondering just how much of a mistake it would be to use good quality audio cables for component video. I have several Radio Shack FUSION audio pairs and would like to use them if I can.

I have used audio cables to patch video signals for years without noticing any ill effects and without any problems in signal quality. I say go for it.

My experienced,
Around ?89 ??90, I have tried to use audioquest Ruby, Quartz and MonsterCable Interlink 400, 500 as video signal I/C. The signal source is Pioneer LD-S1 and the monitor is National M-1 monitor w/o TV receiver. The result is also OK. Only Quartz is obviously worst. But when I changed an AudioTechnica?s video cable and other one of Japan made video cable, the picture obviously improved. The picture becomes sharper, details, rich colors and also brighter and beautiful. So I discovered audio cable and video cable have a bit difference after compared. Other hand, many good video cables might be not good for used as audio cables. Some would provide harsh vocal or some reduce the HF extend. Few years before, I brought a whole roll of Japan made (OFEC) audio/video cable for my home use. It used for the video is acceptable. But used for the audio is too bad, worst than many factories provided original cables. Believe it or not!
I believed you would discover the difference when you have a seriously test.
